about

With formative years spent absorbing influences and showcasing artists from across the musical spectrum, plus a stint touring live with genre-greats Maribou State, Ad Hoc Records is proud to present ‘Blur Vid’: Alps 2’s latest, most dancefloor-ready release to date.

Lead single ‘Favourite State’ is a tightly wound, no-frills exercise in groove construction. Industrious, pacy breaks give way to wistfully mellow synthesis and delicate sample treatment - all combined to redefine what “minimal” means. It’s a track to fill your feels and move your feet.

Elsewhere, Blur Vid’s brooding sense of purpose and forward momentum maintains Alps 2’s status as serious music to have fun to. It’s a no-nonsense yet incredibly nuanced roller of a track.

--------------------

Underground electronic outfit Alps 2 is the brainchild of long-time friends and Maribou State live players, Jonjo, Harry, and Jonny. Their eclectic remote setup affords a juxtaposition of space and intimacy through which their otherworldly - yet disarmingly familiar - soundworld is formed. It’s music for the living room, music for the dancefloor: music for the people.

A warm, fizzing current of energy runs through their sound, the result of formative years spent crate-digging, late-night listening, and playing live. Always a must-listen for fans of both evocative, thoughtful electronics and those itching to two-step: Alps 2’s calling card is infectious, homage-paying beats for anytime listening.

By day, bookers for Manchester institution Ramona, Alps 2 are architects of a regional scene - responsible for bringing Children of Zeus, Peter Hook, Tom Ravenscroft, Jimpster and Kenny Ken and Mayor Andy Burnham (plus more) into the venue’s now-hallowed DJ booth.

And as Alps 2, they’ve seen support from BBC Radio 1 (Introducing - Dance) and 6Music (Tom Ravescroft), and been playlisted on Spotify (Fresh Finds) - not to mention by the likes of heavyweights Ninja Tune, Anjunadeep and Defected Records too. With a raft of crisp cuts selected for imminent release, keep yours ears open for Alps 2 in 2023.
